Why Law Associates Hate Law Firms (and What Lawyers Can Do About It) featuring Frank RamosWhy Law Associates Hate Law Firms (and What Lawyers Can Do About It) featuring Frank Ramos

About This Episode

Originally interested in being a writer, political manager or lawyer, Frank decided to become a lawyer because it best served his life. This Chicago, Illinois native moved to Florida to attend undergraduate and law school.

Why Law School

Frank is a big advocate for teaching people how to do what they want to do. Frank is adamant that he would not talk a law student or new lawyer out of continuing with being a lawyer.

It is not for me to say you should not do this or this is not what you think it is, explains Frank Ramos.

Frank Ramos also spends his time working as a purpose coach where he challenges people to look for their mission, their destiny or what they are supposed to do in their lives.  Frank is adamant that this self reflection is not only necessary as a new lawyer, but tenured lawyers may also learn about what motivates them.

Lawyer Side Hustles

Frank Ramos created the website, MiamiMentor.com, to provide information about public speaking, trial skills, being published and even evaluating your law firm.  Most of these resources are free; services that Frank provides to the world for the purpose of giving everyone the opportunity to educate themselves in weak areas.  Frank has resources for law students, young lawyers and established lawyers because Frank has been in all of these roles and uses his experiences to teach others.

Topics covered on the Miami Mentor website are:

  • leadership,
  • trial skills,
  • pre-trial skills and
  • how to get published.

What Can I Do With A Law Degree

Frank Ramos is also an author and podcaster. What started as a hobby has turned into a lawyer side hustle and allowed Frank to publish 18 books.

Most notably is a book called, The Associate Whisperer.  Frank is empathetic with young lawyers in a way that resonates with them.  This book provides probing questions and assignments for these lawyers to determine where they want to be in life and ensure that they are in the right place.
