About This Episode

Rho Thomas’ Background

Rho Thomas is a financial coach who helps individuals manage their finances and develop a healthy money mindset. She believes that having control over one's finances can lead to power and freedom. Rho's expertise lies in simplifying the complexities of money and debunking the belief that some people are just not good with money. She also emphasizes the importance of creating a budget, even if it may seem tedious. Rho's own experiences, such as becoming a parent and transitioning from blogging to podcasting, have shaped her understanding of financial management and inspired her to help others.

"The more that I was me, the more that I found that people were resonating with that," shares Rho Thomas on You Are A Lawyer.

In the episode, Rho shares her personal journey of launching her podcast and offering coaching services. She mentions how she felt anxious about COVID and the transition to in-person interactions. Rho also highlights the significance of sharing her own debt story, as it allowed her to inspire others who were facing similar financial challenges. She believes that being authentic and true to oneself is essential in connecting with others and delivering a meaningful message.

Why Law School

Rho chose law school because she wanted to have control over her finances and her future. In the podcast episode, she mentions that she helps people learn to manage their finances and money mindset so that they can unlock the power and freedom that comes with having control. Rho also shares her personal experience of being in debt and feeling anxious about her financial situation. She wanted to find a stable and secure career path that would allow her to have control over her own financial destiny. This led her to pursue a career in law, where she could not only help others with their legal needs but also gain the financial stability she desired.

"Because we are so conditioned to believe that the stable thing is to have a nine to five job where someone else is paying us and, you know, whatever else, like it's risky for me to do this thing that I have 100% control over, but it's safe and stable for me to be in a position that is 100% in the control of someone else," reflects Rho Thomas on Episode 124 of You Are a Lawyer.

Rho desired to break free from the traditional notion of stability and take control of her own financial future through her career in law. She recognized that relying solely on a nine to five job was not the only path to stability and that she could create her own stability by being in control of her own career and finances.

What Can You Do with a Law Degree

Rho highlights the versatility of a law degree and how it can open up various career paths beyond traditional legal practice. She shares her own experience of transitioning from practicing law to becoming a financial coach and starting her own podcast. She emphasizes the importance of finding a specific medium to share your message regularly and how podcasting allowed her to reach a wider audience and inspire others.

"I love that, you know, getting into podcasting kind of unlocked or opened up that part of you that you had forgotten about because I think that that experience is so common," explains Rho Thomas, on this episode of You Are a Lawyer.

A law degree can provide a foundation for exploring different interests and pursuing unconventional career paths. With a law degree, individuals have the opportunity to tap into their passions and use their legal knowledge and skills in unique ways.
