Why Law School

After double-majoring in history and international relations as an undergraduate student, Brandi Mowles attended law school to practice international law. However, Brandi changed her mind about becoming an attorney when she thought about graduation.  

“I heard [practicing law is] like the good old boys’ club. And so I was also looking at it like, ‘Okay, there may be this tension with getting a job, even if I was in the top of my class, then working 60 hours a week,” explained Brandi Mowles in Episode 4 of the You Are A Lawyer podcast.

so instead of being an attorney, Brandi worked in direct sales for six years. After hustling and selling for others, the seed of entrepreneurship was planted. This seed grew into the thriving consulting and business launching agency that Brandi Mowles created. 

Brandi Mowles attended law school in Alabama and rarely mentions her law degree, even though she enjoyed the competitiveness of law school. Brandi Mowles is confident that she did not miss anything when she decided not to take the bar exam.

What Can You Do With a Law Degree? 

Brandi Mowles explains that law school gave her the foundational knowledge to become an entrepreneur, understand contracts, and mentor other business owners. Brandi explains that law school also taught Brandi to stop comparing herself to others.  

“I also understand that just because you have a contract with someone doesn't mean it's ever going to be used, it's more of a social contract to make sure everyone stays in line,” explains Brand Mowles in Episode 4 of the You Are A Lawyer podcast.

After listening to horror stories about business partnerships and recognizing when people give bad legal advice, Brandi is pleased with her decision to change careers.

“It’s part of my story, but I’m not walking around like ‘Oh, I went to law school,’” explains Brandi Mowles in Episode 4 of You Are A Lawyer. 

Lawyer Side Hustles

Brandi Mowles created an education and marketing business that teaches other business owners to succeed. As an advertising strategist and business mentor, Brandi Mowles assists business owners in launching online courses or memberships with dynamic Facebook and Instagram ads. Brandi has so much experience in this space because she launched her ad strategy business to make over $200,000 a year as a new mother and wife. 

Brandi has launched online courses for podcast managers, YouTube managers, and virtual assistants to teach business owners how to serve, soar and scale their businesses. But the side hustles continue beyond launching businesses. Brandi Mowles also serves as a business mentor, where Brandi assists service-based businesses in scaling to become profitable without hiring a team. 

Lawyers Have Cool Interests

Brandi Mowles hosts the podcast, Serve Soar Scale, where she helps freelancers and business owners to scale their businesses. Freelancers rarely have the time to research and identify what information is best for them and their business, so Brand makes it easy to share her experience and lessons. Brandi Mowles shares information about business systems, marketing along, and how to choose clients to work with. These lessons are mandatory listening and will inspire any freelancer or entrepreneur to tune in. 

"I've really been able to thrive and create something that is mine, that empowers other people, and that I get to work 20 hours a week and have a thriving business. And that's exciting," explains Brandi Mowles in Episode 4 of You Are A Lawyer.
